Eight varieties of bamboo are planted in the Eight Immortals Bamboo Gallery, which correspond to the unique characteristics and qualities of the eight immortals. The ninth bamboo species represents community and cooperation. Although the eight immortals cross the sea and display their abilities, there is a limit to the wisdom and strength of individuals alone. We must work together, and the collective power is infinite. The last kind of bamboo is "benevolent bamboo", taking its meaning of "kindness", everyone should be a kind father or mother, like the Goddess of Mercy, "all sentient beings, great compassion".
